When Rozanne from Moi Styling approached us to do a shoot with her for the My Wedding Day magazine (Dec issue), we didn’t even have to think twice! We had a quick meeting to look at the reference pictures for the shoot and we absolutely fell head-over-heels in love with the idea: Lots of fairylights and candles to create an old Hollywood glamour look. We were so excited!
We immediately roped in one of our favourite decor suppliers (Four Every Event in Grabouw) for the fairylights and the tons of different sized glass containers and balls needed to create the look we had in mind and also knocked on Rent a Candles’ door for the candles.
We were all set.
Monday 31 October 2011 dawned rainy, misty and miserable… We were a bit worried, since most of our shots were planned for outside, but we just went ahead and nothing could stop us.
We gathered at Webersburg to started setting up.
The gorgeous shoes and accessories, just begging to be worn!
Some of the beautiful gowns the model (Joyce, from Boss models) got to wear.
Busy setting up our first scene (at this point it was pouring with rain outside!)
This was the beginnings of our second scene. We used glowing UV lightsticks in the glass balls initially, but that didn’t really have the desired effect. Find the picture in the magazine to see how we changed it!
Margaux and Adel (our brilliant photographer) setting up for another indoors scene.
Lounging around while Rozanne and Adel sets up the next shot.
Enjoying a well deserved glass of wine, while discussing our options for the final two scenes. Rain had set us back quite a bit by this point, but we were positive that the last three outdoor scenes were going to be stunning. In retrospect, they were my favourites and came out amazing!
Margaux working her magic with the floating candles. This scene came out absolutely magnificent!
Sharing a meal with Elna (editor of the magazine) and her wonderful team before heading out to do the last scene.
What a day! We were on our feet for 12 hours, but it was magic! Our all girls team did wonders and in the end we created amazing moments.
Thank you, Elna and Rozanne for the wonderful oppertunity. I can’t wait to see the magazine on the shelves!
