Celebrations and stilettos

Neethlingshof in Stellenbosch was awash with creamy whites and splashes of fuscia and purple for the wedding of Bruce and Kelly van der Vent on 12 March 2011.

Our journey with this funky couple started in October 2010 when Kelly came to us looking for her dream wedding dress. She fell in love with the pink embroidery on one of our gowns and from being set on a ‘white wedding’, her vision suddenly filled with colour! Timidity grew into boldness and the wedding colours were set on white, bright fuscia pink and deep velvety purple.

Now, before you think ‘carnival’ or ‘children’s party’… The colours did exactly what we knew they would: they created a kaleidoscope of luxury and opulence! Centrepieces went from flat white florals to bouquets filled with greens, pinks and purples. Chairs and serviettes were ‘splashed’ with colour and tissue paper orbs created a soft and playful look on the chairs at the ceremony and around the venue at the reception.

And then came the clincher:

The majestic bridal car arrived (spilling out five of the cutest pink and purple fairy flower girls). When the back door opened, a foot was daintily set on the ground, revealing the bride in a beautiful creamy creation… and hot pink stilettos!

Not only did the Proteas win against India that day (another cause of celebration for their guests), but Bruce and Kelly, along with their beautiful daughter, Sage,  had the fairytale wedding of their dreams.

And that, of course, is the reason we do this!
